On March 16th, I was invited to talk about engineering and design with Kindergarten students at Heritage Elementary. The main focus of our talk and activity was that engineers see a problem, make a plan that they think will work to solve the problem, then make it happen. Then we looked at all the problems that occur in the classroom that engineers solved, like making sure they had fresh air, light, soft and durable coverings on the floor, chairs that support their weight, and much more.
After our talk, the kids worked in pairs to see what they could make with the Electric Motors Catalyst from Tinkering Labs. As you see from the highlight video below, these pint-sized engineers are well on their way to solving the problems of tomorrow!
Thanks, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Cox, Mrs. Schultz, and Mrs. Nelson for inviting me into your building!
There are a lot of really neat things happening in our district. Check back here to see some great examples of how our students and teachers are using technology to enhance their learning.
